LIGHTING DESIGNER DRAFTSPERSON
ABOUT SOPHIE:
I am Sophie Waghorn, a lighting designer, 3D modeler, and draftsperson attending the Savannah College of Art and Design. I love to create clean and accurate 3D models in Vectorworks. From these models I am able to create drafting packets and paperwork quickly. I am proficient in ETC eos, Capture, Lightwright, AutoCAD, and more. I intend to continue learning more ways to improve and optimize my work flow, as well as expand my knowledge of other softwares.
I was born and raised in Wellington, New Zealand, and moved to Oregon at the age of 13. At high school in Oregon, I joined the lighting crew at Summit Theatre Company. I quickly fell in love with lighting, and have trained my eyes to understand light very well. I worked in many theatres with many different companies in high school, including Cascade Theatre Company, Thoroughly Modern Productions, and BEAT Children’s Theatre.
I moved to Savannah, GA to attend SCAD with a major in Production Design, a concentration in Lighting Design, and a minor in Film and Television. Here, I was able to expand my skills from just theatrical lighting to film, concert, and more. I started learning Vectorworks in April 2024, and very quickly started to love it. I learnt 2D drafting then 3D modeling, and I have been able to create multiple drafting packets and renders from my work.
